Wind and rain windows for site planning.

Site planning guidance on this page is not yet published from the GMS forecast system. The figures on this page are illustrative and must not be used for any weather, marine or safety decision.
Concrete pours, crane lifts, roofing, scaffold work and excavation on Grenada's steep sites all have their own weather limits. The forecast that matters is not the daily outlook but whether a specific window holds long enough to finish the task safely.
| Activity | Typical limit |
|---|---|
| Tower crane operation | Wind gusts above 20 m/s (approx. 39 kt) |
| Concrete pour | Heavy rain during placement or initial cure |
| Roofing and cladding | Sustained wind above 15 kt, or any lightning |
| Scaffold erection | Sustained wind above 17 kt |
| Excavation on slopes | After sustained heavy rainfall — saturated ground raises collapse risk |
Sites carrying loose material, scaffold and temporary structures need a securing plan that can be executed inside the warning lead time — typically 36 hours for a tropical cyclone warning, and considerably less for a severe thunderstorm.
Plan for the time it takes to secure the site, not the time until the weather arrives.
